Whilst restrictions changed today on Monday 19th July, we here at Friars Hill Stables won’t be changing anything for the time being.
As a riding school, we are in contact with hundreds of people every week.
Whilst we all wish Covid would go away and let us get back to life as we previously knew it, we are also aware that an infection to any staff member could result in us having to close. And staff having to isolate results in us having to curtail the lessons and activities we can put on.
Therefore, anyone coming to Friars Hill Stables will still be required to follow the one way system, sanitise, sign in and wear a mask whilst on these premises. Riders may remove their masks when instructed to do so by their Instructor, this will be once they are mounted, with their stirrups & girths adjusted.
Parents!! We have noticed that some children have started turning up here without masks - please ensure that they have their masks with them and that they are wearing them!
If you don’t wish to respect our safety by following these rules then please refrain from coming here until we feel able to relax our rules.
Those who may feel that this is against their human rights, please take the time to think about our rights and our safety in the workplace.
Thank you for your Cooperation and have a super happy day!
We are a family-run stable owned by Alison Brown which combines professionalism with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Situated on the gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors, the stables are only a short drive from Scarborough, Whitby, Malton, Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering. Ample local accommodation is available in the area from self-catering country cottages to AA rated hotels.
If you want to improve your horsemanship, we offer a variety of riding lessons for beginners through to skilled riders. We have two indoor schools which allows us to ride all year round, come rain or shine. Please note that the minimum age is 4 years old (8 for hacks) and the maximum weight is 14 stone/89kg. Payment in full must be made at the time of booking. Cancellation policy is 36 hours!
In 1999 we became a Pony Club approved centre, so youngsters can take advantage of the Pony Club educational system and their superb insurance, without having to own a pony of their own.
